Precautions for use of current transformer

Jul 08, 2022|

(1) The polarity connection should be correct. Current transformers are generally marked according to the minus polarity. If the polarity connection is incorrect, it will affect the measurement, and even when there are multiple current transformers in parallel in the same line, it will all cause short-circuit accidents.

(2) The secondary circuit shall be set with protective grounding point and reliably connected. In order to prevent high voltage from rushing into the low-voltage side after insulation breakdown between the primary and secondary windings, endangering personal and instrument safety, the secondary side of the current transformer should be set with a protective grounding point. Only one grounding point is allowed, and the box terminal close to the current transformer is generally grounded.

(3) Open circuit of secondary winding is not allowed during operation. Otherwise, it will lead to the following serious consequences: high voltage on the secondary side, endangering personal and instrument safety; Overheating may burn out the winding; Increase the measurement error.

(4) The secondary circuit of current transformer used for electric energy measurement shall not be connected with relay protection device and automatic device to prevent mutual influence.
