Hall Effect Sensor Installation Steps

Sep 24, 2025|

1. Safety Preparation
Power-off Operation: Before installation, disconnect the device from the power source (e.g., disconnect the battery for electric vehicles). Use insulated tools and wear protective gear.
Environmental Check: Ensure the work area is free of strong magnetic fields, high temperatures, or humidity.
2. Mounting and Wiring
Mechanical Mounting: Secure the sensor base plate to the device using M4 screws (e.g., for current transmitters, align the wires in the direction of the arrow).
Avoid bending the pins due to mechanical stress or applying external forces.
Power and Signal Cable Connections:
Power Supply: Connect the auxiliary power supply (e.g., +15V/-15V) according to the specifications, ensuring reverse polarity.
Signal Cable: Connect the output terminal (e.g., M/G) to the corresponding terminal on the device (e.g., the positive and negative terminals on an electric meter's current input).
3. Magnetic Field Calibration and Testing
Directional Calibration: The sensing surface (printed side) must face the magnetic field source, with the arrow pointing in the same direction as the current. Functional Test:
After powering on, verify that the output signal is normal when a magnetic field approaches (for example, the phase angle of an electric vehicle motor must match 120° or 60°).
4. Special Scenario Handling
Electric Vehicle Motor Replacement:
Remove glue stains from the old sensor. When replacing, maintain insulation paper isolation. Ensure the phase angle matches the controller.
Industrial Current Detection:
The current-carrying conductor must pass perpendicularly through the sensor aperture and be centered to avoid electromagnetic interference.
Common Errors and Risks:
Wiring errors: This can cause signal abnormalities or equipment damage (for example, connecting a speed sensor in reverse).
Magnetic field direction errors: The output signal becomes invalid and requires recalibration.
