Precautions for using Electrical Current Transformer

Jan 01, 2021|

1. The polarity connection must be correct. Electrical Current Transformers are generally marked by minus polarity. If the polarity is incorrectly connected, it will affect the measurement, and even when multiple Electrical Current Transformers are connected in parallel on the same line, it will all cause a short circuit accident.

2. The secondary circuit should have a protective grounding point and be connected reliably. In order to prevent the high voltage from entering the low voltage side after the insulation breakdown between the primary and secondary windings and endangering the personal and instrument safety, a protective grounding point should be set on the secondary side of the Electrical Current Transformer. Only one grounding point is allowed to be connected. Generally, it will be close to the Electrical Current. The box terminal of Transformer is grounded.

3. The secondary winding is not allowed to open circuit during operation. Otherwise it will cause the following serious consequences: (1) High voltage appears on the secondary side, endangering the safety of people and instruments; (2) Overheating may burn out the windings; (3) Increase measurement error. 4. The secondary circuit of Electrical Current Transformer used for electric energy measurement should not be connected with relay protection devices and automatic devices to prevent mutual influence.
