Why can't the current transformer open the secondary circuit?

Apr 18, 2022|

1. The current on the secondary side is unbalanced, resulting in a significant increase in the magnetic flux of the iron core, and the induced electromotive force is proportional to the magnetic flux, causing the voltage on the secondary side to increase significantly, which is easy to bring the danger of electric shock, and even lead to The insulating parts of circuits and components on the secondary side are broken down.

At this time, the iron core will have obvious symptoms, such as discharge sound, sparks, noise, etc.

2. After the magnetic flux of the iron core increases significantly, the temperature of the iron core will increase significantly, causing the voltage transformer to be burned. If this happens, we will find that the transformer will emit smoke and have a burnt smell.

3. Because the magnetic flux is greatly increased, the iron core is in a saturated state, so there will be a large amount of residual magnetism, which will lead to a significant decrease in the accuracy of the transformer.

4. The current on the secondary side is zero, the power meter and the ammeter show zero, the aluminum plate of the electric energy meter will not rotate and make noise, and the current relay cannot operate normally, so the protection of the primary side circuit cannot be realized. and surveillance.

It can be seen that the transformer is to avoid the open circuit of the secondary circuit, otherwise it may cause danger and cause accidents.

In addition, in order to make the voltage transformer play its due role, before it is officially put into use, the specified items should be tested and checked to ensure that the inspection is correct before it can be used.
