What is the impact of Power Current Transformer being too small

May 17, 2021|

1. After repeated tests and analysis by the power supply bureau, the load is too large, and the Power Current Transformer ratio is too small to guarantee the authenticity of the measurement and the accuracy of the line loss. The working current of the Power Current Transformer must not exceed 1.2 times the rated value.

2. In actual work, if the Power Current Transformer and the power meter are not properly selected in the power metering device, it will cause a lot of loss to the power supply. Because the Power Current Transformer is too small and the load increases, the metering device cannot verify an accurate coefficient, which increases the power loss.

3. When the Power Current Transformer is overloaded, because the load is too large and the Power Current Transformer ratio is too small, it will not saturate within a certain range. Its secondary current exceeds the maximum rated current of the electric energy meter, and it will increase proportionally. The matching electric energy meter will also be overloaded.
