Current Transformer for Power is a type of "instrument transformer" designed to generate alternating current in its secondary winding, which is proportional to the current measured in its primary. Current Transformer for Power reduces the high voltage current to a lower value and provides a convenient way to safely monitor the actual current in the AC transmission line using a standard ammeter. The working principle of basic current transformer is slightly different from that of ordinary voltage transformer.
