When the current transformer transformer is in operation, the secondary winding

Jun 19, 2023|

First of all, before using the current transformer, the secondary winding needs to be checked for quality.

During the manufacturing process, the winding, conductors, insulating materials, etc. of the secondary winding need to be carried out in accordance with the standards and requirements, because once a quality problem occurs, it will affect the measurement accuracy and safety of the current transformer. Therefore, a series of inspections such as visual inspection, winding insulation resistance test, and inter-turn insulation test of the secondary winding should be carried out before use to ensure that the secondary winding has no damage and quality problems.

Secondly, it is necessary to pay attention to the temperature of the secondary winding during operation.

Since the current transformer will generate a certain amount of heat during operation, the temperature of the secondary winding cannot exceed the specified range, otherwise its performance and life will be affected. Normally, the maximum temperature of the secondary winding should not exceed 85°C. If it exceeds the limit, it needs to be shut down in time for inspection and maintenance.

In addition, the number of coil turns of the secondary winding is also very important.

The number of turns should be selected according to the needs. Generally speaking, if a large current needs to be measured, the number of turns of the secondary winding should be increased accordingly to make the secondary output current within the standard range. At the same time, after the number of turns is determined, the output voltage needs to be checked and calibrated to ensure its accuracy.

Finally, attention should also be paid to the installation and wiring of the secondary winding of the current transformer.

When installing, operate in strict accordance with the instructions and requirements to ensure that the installation is firm and there are no problems such as looseness or poor contact. Moreover, safety isolation devices (such as fuses) need to be added between the input and output terminals to ensure that the current can be cut off in time when a fault occurs, and to prevent accidents caused by short circuits on the secondary side.

In short, the current transformer is a very important measurement device in the power system, and the secondary winding is a key component, and the above aspects need to be paid attention to during operation to ensure its performance and stable operation.
